The Puget Sound Car Wash Association's
CHARITY CAR WASH PROGRAM
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
If you belong to a qualifying organization, you can sell tickets
redeemable at environmentally-friendly, commercial car wash facilities
throughout the Puget Sound area.
Selling car wash tickets instead of having a parking lot car wash is not
only better for the environment, it's better for your organization.
-
You can raise more money because you can sell more
than one ticket at a time.
-
This car wash is not weather-dependent.
-
You pay a one-time setup fee of $25.
-
Tickets from the PSCWA are $4 each with a suggested
selling price of $8.
-
The tickets are custom imprinted with the charity's
name.
-
The PSCWA has sales aids available to help charities
sell tickets.
-
Tickets can be purchased in blocks of 50 to 500.
Parking lot charity car washes can be deadly to fish and other aquatic
life....... Wastewater from charity car washes contains toxic
hydrocarbons and other organic compounds like oil, grease, nutrients,
heavy metals and suspended solids. Wastewater flows directly into storm
drains that are intended for rainwater, eventually finding its way into
our waterways.
Professional car washes remove solids from wash water, and then pipe it
to water treatment facilities or other state approved drainage
facilities designed to protect the environment. Plus, professional car
washes conserve water by using much less per car, and many recycle
water.
The Puget
Sound Car Wash Association
The Puget Sound Car Wash Association (PSCWA) is a local
professional organization of car wash owners and operators that promote
high standards and practices in the industry, as well as environmental
consciousness. For its efforts in favor of the environment, the PSCWA
was awarded King County's Earth Hero award. The Earth Hero proclamation
reads,"... the Puget Sound
Car Wash Association is considered one of our region's quiet, unsung
heroes for its outstanding contributions to ensuring our air, land, and
water is valued and protected for all King County residents."
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do we sell the tickets?
The PSCWA has made available a Charity Car Wash banner to help
charities sell the tickets. Many charities set up a table at a local
grocery store or bank and sell the tickets in this manner.
How much time will we have to sell the tickets?
Under normal conditions, the charity is given 30 days to sell the
tickets. Extended time is available if needed.
Do all car washes accept the tickets?
Tickets are valid at participating PSCWA car washes throughout the
Puget Sound area. A list of member washes can be found on the back of
each ticket.
Do we have to pay for the tickets in advance?
No. We take a credit card imprint. When your organization is
finished selling the tickets, you return $4 for each sold ticket and
return the unsold tickets. We then tear up the credit card voucher.
